In response to the crisis, both the public and private sectors are implementing measures to minimize the negative impacts, support business operations continuity, and protect workers' rights. While the impact of COVID-19 on the country’s economy has been devastating, signs of recovery are already being seen. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), together with other national government agencies and the private sector, is directing its efforts in steering the country towards a gradual and sustainable path to economic recovery.
The DTI being the lead agency tasked to implement the MSME Development Plan 2017-2022, will organize the 2021 National MSME Week e-Fora series with the theme “Makabagong MSMEs, Bagong Pag-asa Laban sa Pandemya” to be held tentatively on July ___, 2021 through the Zoom online platform and streamed via Facebook Live.
The highlight of this year’s National MSME Week celebration would be the “Ulat sa Bayan” of President Rodrigo R. Duterte. The President’s Report on MSMEs will focus on his Administrations’ accomplishments according to the five (5) strategic goals of the MSMED Plan 2017-2022, namely: (1) improved business climate; (2) improved access to finance; (3) enhanced management and labor capacities; (4) improved access to technology and innovation; and, (5) improved access to markets.
The free e-Fora series will feature expert speakers and panelists to provide perspectives and insights on topics that may help in business operations toward a “better normal”.
Other activities include the launching of "Tatak Matatag na Negosyo", a partnership/coalition of 16 private sector organizations, businesses and government on sustainable stores movement, particularly targeting assistance to micro-stores – sari-sari, carinderia, small bakeries, and stalls in enhancing their entrepreneurial capacities, improving their access to finance and market.
