The establishment of the AfCFTA has eliminated 90% of tariffs and is forecasted to boost intra-Africa trade by 33%, while reducing the continent’s trade deficit by 51%, facilitating labour movement and investment opportunities more efficiently.

Manufacturing and consumer sectors are expected to observe significant growth within AfCFTA. By 2035, Africa’s intra-continental exports are projected to increase by 109%, boosted by higher value domestic manufacturing. Consumer and business spending are also anticipated to surge beyond US$6.7 trillion (S$9.38 trillion).

This generates more business opportunities in I4.0 manufacturing and automation solutions, agro processing and agriculture, retail, automobile, pharmaceutical, infrastructure, transport and logistics, and more. For instance, in the transport and logistics sector, the AfCFTA is projected to spur demand for almost 2 million trucks, 100,000 rail wagons, 250 aircraft and more than 100 vessels by 2030 to facilitate greater intra-Africa connectivity.
